Middle School Robotics

From October through May,* middle students may participate in the middle school robotics program that meets once a week after school.  The program has room for up to twelve middle school students, with applications opening at the start of the school year.  Meetings will start in October after the conclusion of the application process.  For ongoing updates during the school year, please visit the Robotics page on the Technology Classroom website.

Robotics students will maintain a digital portfolio documenting each project or activity they complete.  Students may start with a structured curriculum of activities that starts simple and build on one another, culminating in a complex “search and rescue” robotics scenario.  The goal is to develop the skills and confidence to take on independent robotics projects designed by the student.  Most students start with the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robotics kits, but we have a wide array of other robotics kits and technology, and also use the 3d printer to augment our robots.  We conduct a few competitions, including robot drag racing and robot sumo.

*Current information about extracurricular activities will always be announced in NewsViews.
