Library News

The mission of St. John School Library is to foster a love of reading while also supporting our students as they develop information literacy skills. Please see below for a few Fall FAQs.

What’s happening in the library in October?     All students will be introduced to this year’s Washington State award books and be given the opportunity to participate in the state-wide voting process. Many of the books are on display in the library now! At the end of the month, the Children’s Librarian from Seattle Public Library’s Greenwood branch will read aloud stories from this year’s “Battle of the Books” to Kindergarteners and first graders, who will vote on their favorites.

Do you have a website?     Yes! Please visit our website for a link to the online catalog, information about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

How can I support the Library?     The library will be open three days a week this year and my priority is to spend as much time with the students as possible. If you would like to help with re-shelving, book covering or book repair, please contact me mbodmer@st-johnschool.org.

Do you accept book donations?     Yes! We accept gently used copies of specific titles to update our collection. Our current wish list is available here. Ideally, we would like to have at least 5 copies of this year’s award titles so that more students can read the books and participate in the voting process. If you have a copy of the any of the  titles on our Wish List and are looking for a donation location, look no further! You can drop them off at any time Wednesday-Friday.

I look forward to partnering with you in the education of our children. Feel free to stop by the library or contact me with any questions.  Mrs. Bodmer, Teacher-Librarian, St. John School Library
