From the Principal

“O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!” I hear it each morning as the students gather to pray and light the Advent candle. Advent is a lovely time here at St. John. Students are excited and looking forward to Christmas, but also praying more, singing more and serving others. And yes, it is the end of Trimester One and the middle school students have also been busy with finals. Report cards will be sent home on December 13. This Monday, Trimester Two begins.

The Preschool students and faculty love their new spaces. XDC will move in as soon as we get the DEL (Department of Early Learning) licensing. Framing is underway for the new reception area in the east hallway and the first and second-grade classrooms are taking shape.

Lisa Longton has been hired to be our new school librarian and will start seeing students in late January. In other faculty news, congratulations to Sarah Peoples, first-grade teacher, who received big news this last weekend. She passed her National Boards and she is now a National Board Certified Teacher. That was a huge undertaking!

Join us for Mass at 9am tomorrow, when we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember, it’s a dress uniform day! You are also welcome on Monday at 8:20am for the Advent Prayer Service.

God Bless,
Bernadette O’Leary
