Join me in giving a huge shout-out to Karen Bombino and the Endowment Team! They organized a very successful and enjoyable Endowment event. Thank you to Ethan Stowell and his team for hosting us in his fabulous restaurant, Cortina and for treating us to delicious lobster and tenderloin. Matt Deines and his eighth-grade son, Jake, were the Hip-Hop hit of the evening, delighting us with their St. John Endowment rap! On behalf of the current families and many generations of future families who will benefit from the endowment, congratulations and thank you, everyone!
Last week, I attended a lecture at Assumption – St. Bridget entitled, Generation Z Unfiltered. Andrew McPeak encouraged his audience (parents) to believe in their children’s abilities to solve their own problems. He advises parents to help their children set goals, but allow them to come up with their own plans to reach those goals. I hope we can empower our children with these practical skills so that they are prepared to navigate their grown-up worlds.
Cantionis is back! We are delighted to welcome Lawrence McDonnell as the new director. Those of you who attend the 5:00pm Saturday Mass are familiar with his rich, melodious voice. Mr. McDonnell is studying voice at the University of Washington and is looking forward to leading our intermediate choir. Read on for registration information for this free extra-curricular opportunity for students in grades three through six. Cantionis begins Thursday, October 17, at 7:40am.
Please note that school is not in session tomorrow. The teachers will be in class, furthering their Catechetical certifications. Enjoy a great long weekend.
