Cross Country Takes First Place!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ST. AL/JOHN CROSS COUNTRY TEAM!    The Cross Country team wrapped up a great season last Sunday by bringing home the championship trophy with 369 points.  We edged out St. Anne (365) and St. Joseph (340) for the #1 spot among all schools (AAA and AA).  This was the reward of practice, participation, and giving it all on race day.  Our team was also chosen by CYO as honorees of the Spirit Award, which is a tribute to everyone’s attitude, participation, and the spirit of our program.

Team Highlights:

  • Over 200 runners on our team
  • 83 runners in the Ribbon Run (K-3rd grade) – most of all the schools
  • Amazing turnout from our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes with 1st graders having perfect attendance at the Ribbon Run (all 28 runners showed up)
  • Our girls outscored all other girls
  • Our boys’ points put them in third overall among boys
  • 7th grade boys tied for 1st (with 4 runners in the top 20)
  • 7th grade girls won 1st (6 in the top 20, 4 in the top 10)
  • 8th grade boys won 1st (5 in top 20, 3 in the top 10)
  • Every runner counts!  All of our runners showed their grit and brought home points for the team.

Thank you to our athletes, our amazing volunteers, our fantastic team coordinator, Brent LaMotte, and our incredible coach, Joe Sperry, for another great year!
