6th Grade Holiday Food Drive

Let’s do this, St. John Families!  Let’s fill our hallway with donated food for our neighbors!  Students in 6th grade are still collecting donations for the annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit families served by St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry.  The need is greater than ever.  Students may bring items as often as they wish.  The drive runs through Monday, November 25.

Students can bring donations to the classroom.  Items must be non-perishable and in non-glass containers.   A list of suggested items:

  • Peanut butter, jelly, jam
  • Cereal
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Canned meats, fish, chili, soups, stews
  • Pasta and pasta sauces
  • Macaroni & Cheese and other boxes meals
  • Paper products (TP, sanitary items, wipes, diapers)
  • Dried pudding, Jell-o
  • Nuts, dried fruit
  • Powdered milk and powdered eggs

The sixth graders are also collecting any extra Halloween candy for the Holiday Food Drive.

Third graders, along with their sixth grade buddies, will bring some of the donated items to the November 25 All School Thanksgiving Mass to be blessed.  The St. Vincent de Paul Society extends its thanks for all the food we have donated thus far:  “[We] would like to thank the staff and school families for your wonderful response to the Food Drive.  Your donations allow us to help neighbors within our own parish boundaries, who are in need.  Your kindness and generosity make a difference in the lives of many.”
