Mrs. Marcey Flood, Beloved Teacher and Friend

We learned early this week that our beloved preschool teacher, Mrs. Marcey Flood, passed away.  Marcey was diagnosed in 2017 with EHE (Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma), an extremely rare type of vascular cancer.  She was brave, courageous, and graceful in her fight.

Marcey began working at St. John in 2011 and returned again in 2016 as a lead preschool teacher.  Her love for each child was abundantly clear in the classroom.  Marcey brought out the best in every learner with love, positivity, and kindness.  She could always be counted on for a smile along with gentle words of reassurance and encouragement.  There was no job too small and her enthusiastic willingness to support the mission was something she modeled to co-workers.  Marcey was active in supporting St. John cross-country and track and volunteered in many other capacities both as a parent of two students who graduated from St. John and later as a faculty member.  Marcey was committed to on-going professional development and consistently sought ways to improve her craft, most recently introducing STEM lessons into the preschool curriculum.

Marcey modeled faith, strength, humility, and patience in all aspects of her life.  Her presence and grace made us all want to be better people.  We are eternally grateful for her many contributions to St. John Parish and School.  Godspeed, Marcey.  We love you.

The Flood family would like to thank the community for the ongoing support of Marcey and the continued prayers.
