First Week of Advent

Did you know that the word Advent comes from the Latin word, adventus, which means “arrival?”  Though we cannot be together this year to prepare for the arrival of Jesus, we can still experience this season of hope, love, peace, and joy with one another.  Join Principal O’Leary and Mrs. Tsagalakis in the lighting of the first candle –  a light of hope in the midst of uncertainty.

St. John Parish offers the Advent 2020 Calendar as a resource to help you deepen your family traditions.  For more information about the history of the Advent Wreath and Advent prayers, link here.

During this time of Advent, we are also called to serve others.  One of the many ways our students act for the common good is by supporting a global “classmate” through the Unbound Program.  Each grade level has a sponsored student and periodically throughout the school year a financial collection is taken to support that child’s education,  nutrition, and healthcare.  Meet your child’s Unbound sponsor here.
