Math Olympiads (MOEMS), Grs. 5-6, 2024-25
Students in grades 5 and 6 have the opportunity to participate in the Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS). MOEMS is a non-profit public foundation, which provides opportunities for children to engage in creative problem-solving activities that help develop a child’s ability to reason, be logical and be resourceful.
Math Olympiads goals for children are:
- Develop enthusiasm for problem-solving and mathematics
- Deepen understanding of mathematical concepts
- Learn major strategies for problem-solving
- Enrich experiences in intellectually stimulating activities
- Build a stronger foundation for assessments and future mathematics studies
Details
- Wednesdays, 7:30-8:10am (before school)
- Meets in Ms. Kelley’s classroom.
- October 30, 2024-April 2, 2025 when school is in session, except for 11/27. There will be no MOEMS session on Wednesday, 11/27.
- $100 registration fee per student. Refunds will not be issued. Fees will not be prorated if the student registers after classes start, stops instruction before the end of the program, or misses class for illness, sports, trips, etc.
- Financial Aid is available. To request financial assistance for clubs, complete the attached form and return it to Andrea Marquez, amarquez@st-johnschool.org. Please note, all applicants requesting financial aid must complete the club registration, which requires payment upfront.
