The Great Washington ShakeOut 2024
St. John School staff and students will participate in the Great Washington ShakeOut on October 17. While earthquake hazard varies from region to region, most of Washington is prone to earthquakes. You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school or even on vacation.
What we do now will determine our quality of life after our next big earthquake. Are you prepared?
The Great Washington ShakeOut is a statewide opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: “Drop, Cover and Hold On.” The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage communities, schools and families to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries. School staff will prepare and practice our procedures prior to the drill. As families are reviewing and updating their emergency preparedness plans, we encourage you to review St. John’s Emergency Communication Plan.
