SCRIP TIP OF THE WEEK: COMBINE PROGRAMS TO INCREASE YOUR RETURN TO ST. JOHN SCHOOL
As you read in last week’s NewsViews, Scrip is an awesome way to make money for St. John School by using gift cards for everyday purchases (it costs you nothing!). BUT did you know there are even more ways to maximize your return to the school? It’s true! By combining Scrip gift cards with vendor reward programs, you can make your dollars go even further. And it really works! St. John School receives quarterly checks from a number of vendors that participate. Here are two great examples:
Fred Meyer
Earn donations for St. John School at the same time you earn your own rewards points at Fred Meyer. Each year Fred Meyer’s Community Rewards program donates $2.7 million to organizations in the Pacific Northwest. When you buy Fred Meyer gift cards through Scrip, it’s an automatic 5% return to the school. Then when enter your registered phone number at checkout, you earn even more rewards off the purchase for the school! That’s powerful spending!!
Here’s how to register so you can earn money for St. John just by shopping: Sign up for the Community Rewards Program by linking your Fred Meyer Rewards card to St. John the Evangelist School #90456 at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards .
- If you do not have a Fred Meyer Rewards card they are available in store at the customer service desk.
- Every time you shop and use your Rewards Card you help St. John earn a donation. You still earn Rewards Points, Fuel Points and Rebates, just as you do now.

***Note: if you previously signed up for the Community Rewards program, you may need to re-register as Fred Meyer change their system a little over a year ago which deleted any pre-existing registrations.
Amazon Smile
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.
- How to get started:
- Go to the AmazonSmile website: smile.amazon.com
- Select St. John as your charitable organization (enter the name as it appears below):

- Every time you make an eligible purchase, 0.5% of the purchase price comes back to St. John. Combine that with a Scrip Amazon gift card, and you add 3% to the return! It’s that easy!!
