As a Fair Share school, our tuition and giving philosophies support the mission of making Catholic education accessible to all who desire it. Tuition payments cover 80% of the school’s operating costs. Gifts and contributions to the Annual Fund, the school Auction, Jog-a-thon, corporate matching, and the Endowment make up the budget difference. As important, generous volunteer support/giving helps defray operating costs and contributes to the Fair Share philosophy

The Parish and School work strategically to plan fundraising events to ensure families are informed and not overburdened with asks. That being said, we are a Catholic School and giving through donations and volunteerism is expected and missionary. Tuition, fundraising and volunteer giving allow the school to provide rigorous academics, competitive teacher salaries, arts education, updated technology, and tuition assistance to families in need.

Ways to Give

Endowment

The St. John School Endowment fund is money held in trust. The principal of the fund is never touched, but a percentage of the income earned is used annually to support the current needs of St. John School including programming and teacher salaries. Through the generosity of school families, parishioners, alumni, and the community, our fund is currently worth over $1.5 million.  St. John School Endowment is managed by Mercer as part of the Fulcrum Foundation Consolidated Endowments.

Each fall, St. John School hosts a social event to help build our endowment. Your gift to the St. John School Endowment Fund creates a lasting legacy ensuring St. John will remain a bright and dynamic Catholic school for years to come.

Annual Fund

The St. John School Annual Fund is part of a comprehensive giving program that supports the school’s operating budget. More than $300,000 yearly is generated by Annual Fund contributions. Annual Fund gifts are made to the school through payments above the target tuition rate. These payments are considered Annual Fund donations and can be a tax deduction benefit. St. John School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and as such, your contribution is tax-deductible. IEN/tax ID number is 91-0577482

Auction

Our annual school auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Themed events each spring, hosted at Fremont Studios, encourage lively bidding, parent costumes, and community fun. An online, spotlight, and live auction, along with a designated Fund-a-Need ask, combine to add an average of  +$400,000 to the school’s operating budget.

Jog-a-thon

Students and families combine to run over 1000 collective miles and raise $100,000 each fall during the school’s annual Jog-a-thon. Students design t-shirts and posters and incorporate a theme and song into each annual event. Students arrive at school in face paint and with colored hair for the day of the run. Creative incentives motivate students to encourage giving to support the school’s operating budget. Top class and individual fundraisers are recognized in an all-school assembly.

Matching Gifts

Annually, more than $65,000 is donated to the school via corporate matching gifts. Many local companies will match dollar for dollar any donation made to a school. Please check with your Human Resources department to see if your company matches charitable contributions or volunteer hours.

Employee Giving

Many companies have employee giving programs that encourage your gift to be made through payroll deduction. For United Way campaigns, you can designate St. John School-United Way #19643.

Stock Transfers

Many donors choose gifts to be made by stock, which may provide significant tax advantages when compared to gifts of cash. Make a stock gift here.

Planned Giving

With a planned gift to St. John School, you can combine your desire to leave a lasting gift to the school with your overall financial, tax, and estate planning goals. You can designate a gift to St. John School in your will, trust, retirement account or life insurance policy. You can make a gift during your lifetime, as part of your legacy, or both.
