  • Girls On The Run is participating in the 2018 5K at Renton Memorial Stadium on Sunday, May 20.  Link here for information about the event, bring the family and make a day of it, supporting the girls.  Activities for the little ones.
  • Ballard High School, Robotics Team hosts Open House and Ice Cream Social for current 8th grade students and their parents, interested in joining the award-winning FRC Team.  Wednesday, May 30, 6-8pm in Room NW 204 / Engineering Workshop.  Parking is available in the lot behind the school – look for student greeters and/or signs marking entrance.   • Fridays at the 5th – Workshops for Students Ages 14-18, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”     Friday, June 15, 4:30-11:30pm, 5th Avenue Theatre  Especially for students with an interest in musical theater, these workshops give students the opportunity to create the characters, sing the songs, learn the choreography, and meet with the cast and crew for the productions on our stage. At each workshop, the participants enjoy a pizza party, see the show, and attend a talk backstage with the cast after the evening’s performance–all for only $25!* Scholarships are available.  Link here for registration.   • St. Catherine of Siena, Mental Health Ministry presents “Anxiety: Learning How to Manage Life’s Stressors” on Thursday, May 24, 7-9pm.  The evening will be in the music room, Victoria Hall.  Topics covered will include how anxiety affects the body, becoming aware of triggers, identifying coping skills.  Jill Paslay, MA will present.  Ms. Paslay is a Cognitive Behavior Therapist trained at the University of Washington and has worked with adults, teens, and children.  RSVP to Trez Buckland (formerly Middle School Science Teacher at St. John School) at bucklandmike@hotmail.com or 206-930-2739.  Free admission.
