Annual Catholic Appeal Your ACA donations at work – we know that the Annual Catholic Appeal supports over 60 ministries in Western Washington, but what specific programs does it support? Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting some of these crucial ministries. This week, we are highlighting the Seafarers’ Ministry. This ministry is an ecumenical partnership that provides donated goods, visits onboard ships, and offers general assistance to the largely invisible ship workers who arrive at our ports every day to bring goods into our communities. This ministry employs one Catholic chaplain and two college interns and utilizes many Catholic volunteers. Its mission is to meet the spiritual and practical needs of more than 20,000 seafarers in Seattle. The ministry provides transportation to shopping, communication tools for contacting family, and a “home from the sea” in our ecumenical ministry center.
We are halfway there! To date, we have received $49,290 of our goal of $91,896 from 117 families – that’s 54% of our goal!
