School and Emergency Information by Text – Opt In

Text Notification  Parents: did you receive the text notification from St. John School on Sunday, 9/19, regarding the Jog-a-thon? To receive text messages from St. John School, your mobile number must be on file in the PowerSchool database. If your mobile number is current in PowerSchool and you did not receive the message on Sunday you may still need to opt-in to our text messaging service. More information about this service can be found here.

Emergency Notification  When an emergency or weather causes a change in the schedule, we will notify our school community in the following ways:

  • The school website and social media accounts (follow us on Facebook, Twitter,  Instagram) will be updated to reflect the change in schedule. Our website will always be the first communication tool updated.
  • A text alert (SMS) will be sent via SchoolMessenger to primary and secondary contacts with active mobile numbers listed in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

The school will communicate weather-related decisions by 6:00am unless conditions change during the day. If school is closed or delayed, Extended Daycare will mirror the school schedule. If school is closed, after-school activities, practices and games are canceled for that day. Should the school start time be delayed, activities and hot lunch may be impacted by late starts, and those changes will be communicated via text and email. As always, we will make these decisions based on the safety of all involved.

Please ensure all mobile numbers for your primary and secondary contacts are updated and current in PowerSchool if you wish to receive SMS notifications. Additionally, please update your emergency contacts in PowerSchool if you have not done so already.
