Playpit Renovation

We are pleased to announce the start of the Jackson Lone Playground renovation project. Demolition and removal of turf will begin next week and the project’s completion is estimated for March 12. Monday you will see a temporary fence on the northeast corner of the parking lot to accommodate construction. Eighth, 5th and 4th grade arrival lines will be re-located to the south side of the parking lot. Thanks to Broderick Architects, Northwest Playground Equipment Inc. and the generosity of our community, which raised over $200,000 for this project through last year’s Fund-a-Need, the renovation will provide new, age-appropriate play structures, lush synthetic playground grass, and an engineered pad system for fall protection. The playpit will also include an octagonal gaga ball pit for friendly competition among all grade levels. A next round of funding through the 2024 Fund-a-Need will help us complete the project, including the addition of new fencing. This is an exciting event for our campus, and it will allow us to continue to honor the service of Seattle Police Officer and St. John graduate, Jackson Lone, the playground’s namesake, who died while serving the City.
