Parish News
It’s Stewardship Season!
Mark your calendars: We are kicking off our 2025 Stewardship Renewal Drive the weekend of October 26 & 27, including the State of the Parish, which will be held IN PERSON AT ALL THREE MASSES. We ask that our St. John Parish members prayerfully reflect on their giving plans for the coming year. Look for more information in the coming weeks. Many, many thanks for your continued support. Because of your generosity, we can continue serving the ongoing ministries of St. John. This financial commitment is a testament to your dedication to this community.
Third Quarter Statement for 2024 Coming Soon
Thank you for your generous support of St. John Parish. Each quarter we provide giving statements to you, so you can check the accuracy of your contributions and update your contact information, if necessary. Please contact Teresa Gillett at tgillett@stjohnsea.org to let us know if you would NOT like to receive your statement (if you have not done so already) and include any new or different contact information if applicable.
Annual Blessing of the Animals, Sunday, Oct. 13 from Noon-12:45pm, St. John School Schoolyard
The St. John’s Saint Francis of Assisi ministry and the St. Benedict’s Care for Creation ministry would like to invite you to bring your pet to St. John’s schoolyard on Sunday, October 13 to celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Father Parrish will bless the animals between Noon-12:45pm. We anticipate animals of all sizes and types, and we don’t wish any to be harmed; we require all dogs to either be leashed or carried in a secure dog carrier. All other animals (e.g., cats, birds, hamsters, snakes, etc.) need to be brought to the schoolyard in a secure carrier. If you can’t bring your pet in a secure carrier or if you can’t control your leashed dog, please leave your pet home and bring a photo for Father Parrish to bless.
Food Lifeline Volunteer Opportunity
Sorting and Packing Event Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, 6-8pm at the South Park warehouse (10 volunteers). To register, follow the link: http://stbens.foodlifeline.volunteerhub.com/. Note: all volunteers must register in advance (FLL recommends 5 days prior). Children as young as 10 years old (with parent/adult supervision) can join and earn volunteer hours.
Once you are registered, please consider carpooling. We meet on the south side of St. Benedict at 5:15pm to sort out the carpool. Traffic going south at that hour is quite slow, but 45 minutes always allow time to get to FLL by 6pm. Contact Len Kannapel at kannapell@yahoo.com with questions.
