Auction – FAQs

Only 30 days until we all Sail Away to this amazing event – don’t be left at the docks! So get your tickets now! With the new auction format, we know you have many questions. We aim to answer some here, but please don’t hesitate to contact us at fundraising@st-johnschool.org or lmexnicios@st-johnschool.org

1. What does an auction ticket include? Your ticket includes entrance to the Spotlight and Live Auction, buffet stations catered by Tuxedos & Tennis Shoes, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, and the After Party. Cocktails and mocktails will be available for purchase.

2. I know there is no sit-down dinner; should we eat first? No! We have SO MUCH FOOD coming. There will be buffet stations and areas to hang out and eat. While there is not a formal meal this year, please know that you will not go hungry!

3. I don’t drink alcohol. Will there be other options available? Of course. We’ll have a signature mocktail available for purchase and a selection of NA drinks included in your ticket.

4. If I have a dietary restriction and/or allergy, how do I know if I can eat? We’ve aimed to make our buffet stations as inclusive as possible, but we want to ensure everyone can safely eat. If you have a dietary restriction, please feel free to email Chris Sourov at csourov@st-johnschool.org so we can highlight it for the caterer.

5. This is a Friday during Lent. Will there be meatless options? Keeping with the Lenten tradition, we will offer meat and meatless meals. Guests can choose the option that best suits their dietary needs or religious observance.

6. Will seating be available, or will I have to stand the whole time? Before the live portion of the event, there will be seating areas for people to enjoy. However, tables will not be set for everyone, so we anticipate that you will enjoy your food and then go back to bid on the Spotlight Silent options! There will be seating for everyone for the live portion of the event.

7. What should I wear? Yacht Rock is all about the vibes, so we encourage you to dress comfortably at the auction. Whether you’re feeling the yacht rock vibe, want to dress up in cocktail attire, or prefer something more casual, we welcome you to come as you are. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and ready to support St. John School. If you want to come in theme, we’ve created some vision boards for you to peruse.

8. Will you need volunteers? Oh yes, please! We’ll need volunteers the day of the event to set up, during the event, and afterward to clean up. There will also be lots of opportunities for high school students. As we get closer to the event, we’ll publish sign-up geniuses and send out more information.
