Volunteer Opportunities
Calling All Recess Monitor Volunteers!
Our school community is looking to recruit next year’s Lunch Recess Volunteers to support our teachers during their lunch break and our students during lunch recess. It’s a wonderful way to earn your volunteer hours. Don’t just take our word for it! Parent Gary Hurley shares, “I’ve been volunteering at Friday recess since 2021. It’s an amazing way to give back, not to mention getting some fresh air away from my stuffy home office!” Thanks to Gary and everyone else who signed up for this year’s crew!
If you are willing to volunteer as a Recess Monitor, please use this brief survey to indicate your willingness to volunteer during the 2025-26 school year.
The recess shift runs from 11:05am- 12:20pm. You can pick which day(s) work for you. Subs are also very much needed if you can’t swing weekly volunteering. This is a solid way to accumulate your volunteer hours for the year.
Our team supervises the blacktop and play-pit for all grades, creating a safe and fun environment as students play. We also support our wonderful teachers as they take a well-deserved lunch break. Our lunch recess relies on volunteers, and your help is critical!

AGAPE Service Project 2025
Give back to others this summer; participate in the AGAPE service project on August 13! Join other St. John families in bringing food, fun, and fellowship to farmworkers and their families in Whatcom County. This unique event gives students a safe and powerful way of encountering Jesus in those who live on the margins. The day-long event will include interacting with children, as well as food-based activities, such as food bank organization, or preparing and serving food.
