Counselor’s Corner, April 2026
Happy April! As we move into spring in Seattle, this is a wonderful time for students to reset, refocus, and finish the school year strong. This month, I’ll be working with students on things like managing strong feelings, practicing whole body listening, building a growth mindset, and learning how to be a kind friend and support others. With longer days and more going on, kids might feel extra excited but also a little overwhelmed, so we’re focusing on building resilience and taking care of our minds and bodies.
Here are a few ways you can support your child at home:
- Encourage consistent sleep schedules and screen-free wind-down time
- Check in regularly about schoolwork and friendships
- Help your child set small, achievable goals for the remainder of the school year
- Spend time outdoors together. Seattle’s spring weather is perfect for it!
As always, Mrs. Manley is here to support your student’s academic, social, and emotional well-being. Feel free to contact Mrs. Manley, smanley@st-johnschool.org, with any questions or concerns.
