Invitation from Mrs. Bodmer, Librarian

Getting to know every student in the school and watching them grow year over year makes being the librarian the best job in the school! Helping students discover the magic of reading is so empowering and inspiring and sometimes all it takes is finding the right book to ignite that spark. I want to make the joy and power of reading possible for every student!

Please come visit me in the library! Although I don’t have scheduled time with the middle school students, the library is open Wednesday-Friday, including lunch recess, before school and after school. Many students take advantage of this, but I would love to see more faces so come on in and check out what’s new!

Fall Suggestions

  • Primary Grades
    • Journey and Quest by Aaron Becker: author-illustrator Aaron Becker launches an ordinary child on an extraordinary journey toward her greatest and most exciting adventure of all. These are wordless picture books that anybody can “read.” Journey is the first book and Quest picks up where it left off. Enjoy these again and again and discover something new each time.
  • Intermediate Grades
    • Rain Reign by Ann Martin: Rose Howard has an obsession with homonyms (even her name is a homonym). She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose’s rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose’s father brought home. Just as a storm hits town, Rain goes missing. Rose’s father shouldn’t have let Rain out. Now Rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search.
  • Middle School
    • Greenglass House by Kate Milford: It’s wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smuggler’s inn is always quiet during this season, and twelve-year-old Milo, the innkeepers’ adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings. Then rings again. And again. Soon Milo’s home is bursting with odd, secretive guests, each one bearing a strange story that is somehow connected to the rambling old house.
