Message from Ms. O’Leary
Every morning a group of teachers gathers to pray. Students, colleagues, you parents, parishioners, the poor, the refugees, friends, family are among those remembered. We also give thanks for our blessings. For me, these few minutes are very precious, when I become acutely aware that we are not alone. We are a St. John family and we are all on a shared journey toward God, who loves and cares for us deeply.
We are excited for Fr. Crispin’s Jubilee Year Celebration on Friday evening. He has spent almost one-third of his twenty-five years here at St. John and we are very grateful for his commitment. Join us at 6:30 on Friday evening as we say Asante Sana, Fr. Crispin! XDC has kindly offered to provide free babysitting. Register here.
Third grade scientists informed me on Tuesday that we are having more daylight again – Tuesday’s daylight was eight minutes longer than the shortest day! Cheery news! We are, however, still in cold and cough season. We have had teachers and students absent with coughs, colds, strep throat, and stomach flu. Encourage your children to wash hands carefully, cough into their elbows and if your children are unwell and feverish, please keep them home until they have recovered. Thank you!
Catholic Schools Week is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for All School Mass at 10:30 on Sunday, January 31st. Fr. Crispin has invited us to proudly share our ethnic heritages by wearing our traditional/cultural dress at Mass. Following Mass, come to Open House and visit the classrooms and the Cultural Fair.
Blessings,
Bernadette O’Leary
