Letter from Ms. O’Leary, Principal

All across the nation, Catholic Schools are preparing to launch the annual celebration of Catholic education and we are no exception. We will begin the week in the best way we know – with Mass. We look forward to having all students and their families in attendance. If you have any friends who are interested in Catholic education, please invite them to attend and then to come of Open House after Mass. The children are eager to show you the essays, prayers, art work and projects that they have been working on so persistently this week. Don’t forget, show off your ethnic heritage by wearing traditional dress or an accessory. I will proudly wear my Aran cardigan!

Peru delegation 2016Today we welcomed three visitors from our sister communities in Peru. Father Narciso, Sister María, and Marleny Pari Vilca will be visiting our school and parish through February 5th.  You will hear more about their ministries and the way St. John Parish School supports their communities during Masses this weekend. Our amigos have a display table at Sunday’s Cultural Fair in Egan Hall following the 10:30am Mass. Plan to stop by and learn more about their communities. The delegation will be meeting with our Amigos group next week, visiting classrooms, and plans to take in some of the sights around Seattle. For more information about their visit contact Señor Pablo.

As you know, Leigh Lunning, our second grade assistant, is expecting her first baby.  Mrs. Lunning had planned to take maternity leave in mid February but her doctor has advised her to rest. Her last day will be Friday, January 29th.  Please join me in wishing her the very best.  We are looking forward to welcoming baby Lunning and seeing the photographs!  Mrs. Julie Skinner, whom you all know well from her admirable leadership of the Jog-a-thon and the auction also happens to be a teacher and she applied successfully for this opportunity to work with students again!  She will begin on Monday, February 1st, assisting in the classroom in the morning and directing the auction in the afternoons!  Welcome to the classroom, Mrs. Skinner.

Progress reports will be sent home with the students today.  Ask the students if they don’t immediately show you and spend some time setting goals with them for the rest of this trimester.

See you on Sunday,
