Prayer, laughter and coffee!

Day one of the school year was delightful. The children arrived smiling and curious about their new teachers and their new classmates. They seemed eager to get started and you, parents also seemed eager to get them settled back in school! It was gratifying to see so many of you chatting at morning coffee and signing up to volunteer. Community building in action! Thank you also to our neighbors, Makeda Coffee for donating the coffee – making the community even stronger!

We are only on our third day of school but the children have already settled in so well.  Yesterday, following a visit to the classrooms I emailed the faculty to say how very impressed I was with the level of achievement of the classroom expectations by the students!   They are already engaged and enjoying learning!

Tonight it is your turn!  We are gathering in the church for grades K-5 Curriculum Night.  It is important that you attend!  We will begin in the church at 7:00 and following introductions and general news, you will be dismissed to your children’s classrooms.  There will be two presentations, allowing for families with more than one child.  As you go to the classrooms, look for the Mission Statement and the Student Learning Expectations.  These form our road map as we guide our students to graduation.  You may hear your child refer to the SLEs and if you don’t already know them check the website!

If you have a child in grades K-5, I look forward to seeing you tonight.  Next week, we will have Curriculum Night for parents of students in grades 6-8.

God Bless,

Bernadette O’Leary
