Capital Campaign Underway! 5/18

Campaign LogoThe Honor the Past, Embrace the Present, Secure the Future Capital Campaign is now underway! By now, you should have received a packet of materials about the campaign including a case statement and letter from Fr. Crispin requesting a pledge to the effort. Over the coming weeks, our team of volunteers will be reaching out to families to discuss the campaign, answer questions and seek your support.

If a volunteer calls to set up an appointment, we ask you to please take the time to meet with him or her to discuss our campaign and your potential participation. The volunteer will walk you through the process and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Because it is impossible to meet with every family, some of you will be mailed a pledge card with an appeal letter and case statement. Please prayerfully consider the suggested amount in the letter and return the pledge card with the amount of your commitment in the return envelope provided.

As we celebrate 100 years, this campaign marks a vital step in our  continued growth and mission at St. John the Evangelist Parish and School. It is important that we, as a faith community, step forward in a sacrificial manner to make our campaign successful. Doing so ensures that we will continue to preserve our parish and school as a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming place to worship.

Finally, as you contemplate your commitment, please remember Jesus’ story of the widow’s offering at the temple (Mark 12: 41-44). After watching the widow place two small coins into the offering, Jesus called together his disciples and said, “Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.”

The facilities at St. John the Evangelist Parish and School we enjoy today were built by the selfless sacrifice of those who came before us. Now it is our calling, as brothers and sisters in Christ, to work together to accomplish our goals to honor the past, embrace the present and secure the future.
