Easter Blessings

We are entering the Triduum, the summit of the Liturgical year. Although it covers three days from the evening of Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday, the Triduum liturgically marks one day, unfolding for us the Paschal Mystery – the death and resurrection of our Saviour. The Triduum also marks the end of our Lenten journey, but hopefully not of the good habits we practiced over the forty days. Mrs. Castillo’s class reminds us to continue to fast from anger and to be kind.  We can continue to pray by making time to attend not only the services during the Triduum, but continuing after Easter.  Here are the immediate opportunities:

  • Holy Thursday Mass: 7pm tonight
  • Good Friday, Shadow Stations: 2pm
  • Good Friday Service: 7pm
  • Holy Saturday Vigil: 8pm
  • Easter Sunday Mass:  8:30am and 10:30am

I am sad to announce that fifth-grade homeroom teacher, Morgan Ahern, will be resigning at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Ahern is moving back to her hometown of Sacramento to be closer to her family.  She will be sorely missed here by the St. John community, but we wish her all the best. We plan to hold on to Mrs. Ahern as long as we can!  If she has not left Seattle by September, you will see her helping out in the classrooms and substituting.

Thank you for your cooperation during the move out of Quigley.  The three-day preschool children told me they liked their ‘new’ temporary classroom!  Quigley will be officially closed this weekend so that the renovation work can begin.  Those of you who enter the campus via the alleyway off 80th St., remember that you will have to use 79th.

Enjoy the Easter holiday.  This is a good time to make sure that you have your Denim and Diamonds all ready for the auction!  It is coming fast on the heels of our return to school.

Wishing you all the joy of a glorious Easter,

Bernadette
