The following is from Bill Marty’s Prayer Nuggets which appears in the Parish Bulletin:
I traveled to Tampa, Florida, last weekend to watch my daughter, Laura, compete in NCAA East Regionals. She’s a pole vaulter. I did a fair amount of praying in the process. Stuff like, “Lord, help my baby girl do her best today,” and, “Lord, keep these girls safe, don’t let anybody get hurt.” Just before the competition began, I was surprised to see this:
As the meeting to go over the rules was breaking up, one of the competitors, Erica invited anybody who wanted to join her for a prayer to gather ’round. Looks like she got about 16 takers. It requires a certain boldness these days to show your faith in public, and share it with others. “Lord, help me be bold and confident in my faith, trusting in you, and sharing my faith with people around me.”
If you have prayer nuggets you’d like to share with the parish, email Bill Marty, email@example.com. Thanks!
P.S. Laura had a very good meet. She qualified for Nationals in Eugene on June 7th. No one was injured in the pole vault competition.
