Welcome back!

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the mid-winter holiday. I had a great time and I thank the auction team and the St. John family who donated a weekend at their condo. I had the winning bid at last year’s auction and I had another win with my family, who enjoyed the weekend with me. My granddaughter congratulated my persistence as I tried to keep up with her on the slopes. I was thankful for another auction purchase, membership at a gym, as the exercise classes I have been taking helped me to get back up when I fell! I am saving my discretionary dollars (no chocolate purchases during Lent!) and looking forward to this year’s auction! I won’t have long to wait – it is just over six weeks away. The tickets will go on sale this Friday and on Friday also look for the Raffle tickets. They will be sent home with the youngest sibling.

The bright sunshine reminds me that Lent is just around the corner. The word Lent comes from an old English word that means spring. Lent is a season of repentance, prayer, fasting, and alms-giving. It beings on Ash Wednesday and lasts for forty days, commemorating the time Jesus spent praying and fasting in the desert. We will have an all-school Mass on February 26th for Ash Wednesday. Students should wear dress uniform. We will be praying in thanksgiving for our blessings and also for our Unbound students and giving our dollars (alms) in aid of their education. Thank you for your participation. We will recite the Stations of the Cross at 2:30pm each Friday during Lent. On Good Friday, the Stations will be at 11:00 am. This year, we will not have the Friday Soup Suppers, however, there is a community no-meat potluck as we begin Lent on Friday, February 28th. Let’s make this Lenten journey together.

God bless,
Bernadette
