Principal’s Letter
Love cannot remain by itself – it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.
These words are attributed to Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. I see these words played out every day at St. John! As soon as we heard that educators could get the vaccine, you, parents, jumped into action! Thank you for the offers to help sign us up and for the links to sites. Also acting in service are the fourth-grade families who are putting together “Lunches of Love’, which St. Vincent de Paul will deliver to the homeless. Our playground volunteers are a hardy, active bunch, full of love for the children. Speaking of active and hardy, Miss Tsagalakis and Mr. Sylvester have really shown their love for the students and persevered through all kinds of weather to make sure the kids stay active, outside, and safe. The Auction Team has revved up its activity to high gear, and volunteers are putting in so many hours of service! It has been a difficult year for all. Your support and service, along with news about the availability of the vaccine for our faculty and staff, have brought great hope.
Rock On, St. John is just two weeks away! Register now on Bidding for Good, make your meal selections, and start making plans to rock on and bid on some amazing items starting March 15. Be sure to order auction dinners and cocktails by March 11! I trust you are keeping up with the Tuesday communications from the auction team and reading all the posts!
We received the honor roll list from Seattle Prep this week, and we are so proud of our graduates – so many former St. John Eagles on the President’s List and receiving first and second honors! Congratulations, alumni!
We also heard from the American Heart Association with great news: thanks to our community’s generosity, St. John is ranked #2 in donations in the entire state of Washington, and we broke our fundraising record from last year!
St. John Rocks!
