Blessing of the Pets The St. Francis of Assisi ministry at St. John would like to invite you to bring your pet to the schoolyard on Sunday, October 3 to celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Father Crispin will bless the animals between noon and 1pm. Please note that we anticipate animals of all sizes and types, and we do not wish any to be harmed. Thus, we require all dogs to either be leashed or carried in a secure dog carrier. In addition, all other animals (e.g., cats, birds, hamsters, snakes, etc.) need to be brought to the schoolyard in a secure carrier. If you cannot bring your pet in a secure carrier or if you cannot control your leashed pet, please leave your pet at home. Please bring a can or bag of pet food to share with less fortunate pet owners and their pets. Remember to wear a mask!
The 9th Annual Blessing of the Backpacks Food Drive for Broadview-Thomson K-8 The Blessings of the Backpack Food Drive for BTK-8 Food Program was another huge success – we filled up three SUVs! Thank you does not even begin to convey the gratitude for all the food that was collected. The 2021 Blessing of the Backpacks held on the school playground was a wonderful event. Fr. Crispin’s blessing and sprinkling of holy water on such a beautiful fall day made it even more special. Thank you also to 6th-grade students and teachers for their assistance. Many thanks as well to our generous parishioners who brought their donations to the Parish Office and to Mass. What a great community we have at St. John!
