Principal’s Letter

St. John’s joggers have been jubilant and joyful! Students, parents, teachers are having fun as they run the courses, get exercise and fundraise for St. John. Thank you so much for your generous donations and a huge shout out to Pablo, Andrea Marquez and the Jog-a-thon Team for all the time and effort they expend in organizing this event.

Join Father Crispin for Blessing of the Backpacks and Food Drive tomorrow at 8:15am on the blacktop. Please care for our neighbors at Broadview-Thomson K-8 by bringing food donations. Following Blessing of the Backpacks, runners in grade 6 will kick-off tomorrow’s Jog-a-thon events at 9am. Mask up, and come cheer on our runners.

I end this letter sounding like a broken record, but I cannot stress this enough:  to keep our community healthy and safe per DOH and CDC guidance, do not bring your child to school if they are feeling sick. Remember, colds are contagious, too.

  • If your student presents any symptoms, please keep them home. (If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, please submit a doctor’s note, or else your child may be sent home.)
  • Submit the attendance form if your child will be absent; please do not email the teachers.
  • We encourage you to get your child tested if they have COVID-like symptoms. Children may return to school with a negative PCR COVID test, after 24 hours have passed since fever resolved (without medication) AND symptoms have improved, per Department of Health – Seattle & King County’s COVID-19 Return to Work/School Flow Chart. At-home and rapid tests are not accepted.
  • The Coronavirus Self-Checker tool is a helpful tool if families are concerned about their student’s illness and the possibility of their symptoms being related to the virus.

Thank you for being our partner in your children’s education – Together We Can!
