COVID-19 Update

The Covid Response Team would like to acknowledge our community for navigating another year of COVID-19. It has taken the collective efforts and sacrifices of the entire community to keep school open as we endured new variants, periods of high community transmission, changing guidance, and clusters of cases. Thank you families for staying the course and supporting the school, your students, and our faculty. We wish you a happy, healthy, fun-filled summer!

Rapid Tests Available This Summer

The school will continue to provide rapid test kits during the summer. They can be picked up any weekday from the Extended Daycare (XDC) main office in the Quigley Building.

Looking Ahead To Fall 2022

You’ve probably heard: COVID-19 is here to stay. The school will continue to follow guidance from the Department of Health (DOH) and PHSKC. Future changes to the DOH K-12 guidance for the 2022-23 school year, or a timeline of potential shifts or changes, will be communicated to the school in July and/or early August. The school will share this information once it is received.

Case Numbers Update

Please note the school will not be updating the COVID-19 dashboard or providing updates during the summer.

At St. John: The school is continuing to see some positive COVID cases, and this week’s overall numbers are the same as last week. There are cluster cases currently in grade 5, and masking is advised for this grade level. The school will continue to track positive cases closely and will communicate as needed if clusters of cases present that would require a return to masking for any additional cohort(s).

Please continue to be vigilant during this last week of the school year. We are providing this information as a reminder for our community to stay strong with your mitigation measures.

  • Keep testing your students and families – we have an abundant supply of rapid tests available in the main office.
  • Continue to monitor students for symptoms (and keep students home who are ill), and mask as appropriate to limit spread and lower our individual and community risk.

The Covid Response Team continues to track positive cases and communicate with families of positive students. The school remains committed to our mitigation strategies. Data on cases, broken down by grade-level and homeroom, is available here.

COVID Weekly Data Dashboard (6/3-6/9)

  • Students Tested Positive (grades PreK-8): 8 (compared to 10 last week)
  • Staff (School, Parish, XDC) Tested Positive: 4 (compared to 0 last week)

In King County: King County continues to be in the “Medium Transmission” level (over 200 new cases per 100,000 people over a 7-day period). Case rates are slightly lower this week. As of 6/4/22, case rates were 349/100k (compared to 366/100k the previous week).
