Principal’s Letter

Light the Advent Candle One

Now the waiting has begun...

We began our week by gathering in church to light the first Advent Candle and take a few minutes to remind ourselves of God’s goodness. Each morning thereafter, students will gather in department levels, light the candle, add an ornament to the Jesse tree, sing and pray. These weeks can be hectic, but Advent offers us opportunities to reflect on the wonder of God and experience His mercy and grace.

Check your children’s backpacks for their report cards which are being sent home today. Celebrate your children’s achievements and discuss areas that may need deeper focus. This is a great time to set goals for trimester two.

The brief snowfall gave rise to great excitement and, of course, some concerns about closure. We will alert you via text, the school website and social media (Facebook and Instagram). I am also concerned about the number of children who arrive without their coats! Unless it is storming, children go outside to get exercise and fresh air at recess times. Please remind them to wear their coats!

Thank you to Mrs. Villanueva, Ms. Kay and the Kitchen Crew for kicking off Christmas festivities with the Intermediate Christmas Concert, the Art Show and Christmas treats. I am looking forward to the PreSchool and Primary Christmas concerts.

Do mark your calendar for the dedication of a new permanent art piece, titled “Mama” by Kelly Latimore, this December 11 at 11:45am, following the 10:30am Mass.

Wishing you a peaceful Advent,

Bernadette O’Leary
