In Case You Missed It

Grand Day, Grades K, 1 and 2, Spring 2023

We are excited to invite grandparents and special friends of students in grades K, 1 and 2 to Grand Day on Friday, May 19, 2023. Grand guests will enjoy a short concert, beverages, sweet treats and a memorable time with their students.

Schedule

  • Grade K: 9-9:45am
  • Grade 1: 10-10:45am
  • Grade 2: 11-11:45am

Grand guests are invited to meet their students in Egan Hall. If Grand guests have invitations from different grade levels, they may stay for the next performance or take a quick jaunt to a local cafe before returning to their next performance.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 17. 

We are looking for volunteers to help make Grand Day a success. Please consider signing up to help out that day. Thank you so much for considering!


American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge: Jump Rope for Heart

Kids Heart Challenge has officially kicked off, and we are so excited to Be the Torch that will light the torch of hope in the fight against heart disease and stroke! We are encouraging ALL our families to learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. Thank you for all your HEART work supporting our school and the American Heart Association!

  1. Join our team and take the challenge to Move More or Be Kind and receive a free Be the Torch Wristband! Register at http://www2.heart.org/goto/StJohnSeattle.
  2. If you already registered, thank you! Start Finn’s Mission where you can learn Hands-Only CPR as a family, how to spot a stroke F.A.S.T. When you complete Finn’s Mission, you’ll earn an XL Finn’s Keychain!

  • School Goal: 150 students registered
  • Jump-a-Thon: Thursday, May 18
  • Donation due date: Friday, May 26
  • Special School Incentives: 
    • When 50 families are registered, we will earn 15 minutes of extra recess!​
    • When 100 families are registered, intermediate students will earn a free dress day!
    • When we hit our goal of 150 families registered, a staff member will get a pie in the face!
    • Top fundraisers will get to participate in a water balloon toss at teachers at the Jump-a-thon event!
    • The top class each week will get the special traveling torch!

The Kitchen Needs Your Help!

As the school year comes to a close, the kitchen is in need of additional volunteers. Please consider volunteering. Volunteers are especially needed for the following Mondays: May 1, 15, 22 and June 5.

If you are interested in volunteering – thank you! – please make sure to get your Food Workers permit and register for Safe Environment Training if you have not done so (questions about Safe Environment Training can be directed to Sheila Marty).
