Principal’s Letter

It is such a joy to see all the smiling faces of your children in their school uniforms. At yesterday’s opening prayer service, we welcomed all of our wonderful students. I am happy to share we have 69 new students, and we welcome these 53 new families.

Today, the students attended PE, art, and music. And to everyone’s delight, the library is soon to be back. Final preparations for re-opening are underway. Thank you, Mrs. Longton! Next week, hot lunch and electives for the middle school will begin. And if you placed an order from the online spirit and uniform store, please stop by the Parish Office to pick it up.

Band will start soon. I’ve heard from last year’s students and their parents that they are eager to begin again. We hope to have an intermediate and a beginner band. Students in grades 4- 8 may join. This is a great opportunity to introduce the students to playing an instrument. More information to follow. Be on the lookout for information for fall after-school clubs in the next few weeks. I am also pleased to announce we will offer After School Studies (AFS) for our middle school students this year. Parents/guardians watch out for registration information in the next several days.

I love to see all the students and parents riding bikes and walking to school in the mornings. Your efforts model stewardship to the environment and reduce car congestion in our neighborhood. And speaking of a healthy living, I see our CYO soccer practices are in full swing and Cross Country hits the practice course at Lower Woodland next week. Thank you parent volunteers and coaches for leading the Fair Share charge.

Reminder: now that students are back together and even with our new ventilation system, there are still risks of passing on illnesses. Please keep children home if they are sick. Inform the school by submitting the attendance form. Students may return to campus if they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms have improved. Let’s keep our community healthy!

And don’t forget to buy your tickets to the Back to School BBQ on 9/8. Deadline to purchase is 9/1!

Here’s to a great school year,

Bernadette O’Leary
