Counselor’s Corner, June 2024
Dear St. John Families,
Happy (almost) summer break! I hope your family enjoys lots of special moments together over the next couple of months. If you are in need of any mental health support over the break, recall that Care Solace is a complimentary service available to all St. John families that can guide you in the process of locating a mental health counselor. And of course, if I can be of any assistance to your student or family in the final days of the school year, don’t hesitate to drop by my office or contact me via email at cshaw@st-johnschool.org.
Wishing you a happy and healthy summer vacation, and I look forward to reconnecting in the fall!
Ms. Shaw

- If you’re looking for ways to create a little summer fun, consider making a summer family bucket list! Check out this list for some ideas to get you started.
- With the extra time spent together during the summer months, it’s natural for sibling fights to increase. Take a look at this article by local parent coach, Julietta Skoog, on how to resolve and prevent sibling fights. Hint – it has a lot to do with practice and skill-building!
- If there were one book I could get all parents to read right now it would be The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. If you’re raising a child who interacts with technology in any way, I urge you to read this book. Haidt reviews the latest research on the impact that technology and media consumption has on youth mental health.
