Principal’s Letter: See You at the BBQ!
This week has been a tremendous kick-off to our 24-25 school year. It was lovely seeing many of you linger for coffee in the courtyard after drop-off on Tuesday. Throughout my conversations, the word that kept coming up was community. It is what sets us apart from the rest, and tomorrow, we will be celebrating our community all day long.
We will begin our day with our first all-school mass with our new parish family priest, Father Parrish. This is a dress uniform day for students. Due to the forecast of a continued “heat wave” students may wear khaki shorts instead of the dress uniform pants. Following mass, we will have an all-school retreat. The students will participate in community-building activities throughout the day centered around our school theme for the year: You are God’s masterpiece; do the good works which God has prepared for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). Students will cap the day with the Jog-a-thon Kick-Off Assembly (Parents, you will find information about Jog-a-thon in your email inbox and your student’s backpack – be sure to check both this Friday.). The celebration continues with our, not-to-miss, Back to School BBQ at 6pm. Word on the street is that the Parent Association has planned a special welcome program beginning at 6:30pm; you won’t want to miss it. See you there!
Speaking of community, we are only a couple of days into school and have already had a number of traffic/parking violations during drop-off and pick-up. Please see the Traffic Pattern for detailed traffic flow instructions. We need to be mindful of our neighbors and exercise safety at all times. Please remember the handicap spots on 80th are NOT to be utilized for drop-off or pick-up.
Be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming curriculum nights. We will see middle school parents this coming Thursday, September 12, at 6:30pm, and K-5 curriculum night is Thursday, September 26.
I look forward to seeing you at the BBQ tomorrow night!
Abby Mansfield
