Principal’s Letter – See You at The Endowment!
This afternoon we joined schools across the world participating in the Great ShakeOut. The safety team set up our Incident Command Center, and we practiced the reunification protocols we put in place during our training with Highlander 6 last year. Ensuring the safety of our students continues to be a top priority and drills like these help our team better prepare for unlikely emergencies in the future.
Speaking of safety, tomorrow is our on-campus Flu and COVID vaccination clinic; reminder – all students who will be participating in the Vaccination Clinic MUST bring a copy of their insurance card to the clinic.
I know many of you were able to tune in on Tuesday to hear Jonathan Haidt, NYT bestselling author and social psychologist, deliver an insightful talk through our ParentMap Parent Ed. He discussed the importance of balancing our protective instincts, highlighting that we tend to be over-protective in the real world while being under-protective online. Haidt advocates for allowing children to engage in risky play in real life, while delaying access to phones. Stay tuned for the recording, notes, and additional resources in next week’s PA section of NewsViews.
Progress reports for grades 3-8 went home with your students today. These reports are great discussion tools and help you and your student prepare for conferences next week. Remember, these are family conferences, and we would like your student to be present. Following conferences, we look forward to seeing your families at church for the State of the Parish presentations, which will be shared during all three masses the weekend of October 26.
I am ready to don my lederhosen and raise my stein in a toast to you all at the Endowment event on Saturday night. Don’t have tickets? Never fear – you can show up, buy tickets at the door, and celebrate with us. Not only will this event be a blast, but your donations throughout the event will help us reach our fundraising goal of $30,000. All donations go directly towards our Endowment Fund helping St. John thrive now and in the future. Can’t make it? No problem; you can still donate to the school’s Endowment Fund by clicking here. Donations of $500 or greater will receive our custom St. John Stanley stein! Thank you for your continued support; we appreciate you.
We also appreciate our teachers and are pleased to announce that Mrs. Arruela will be joining our middle school team as the 7th and 8th grade religion teacher. Mr. Stinebrickner, who has generously been filling that role as we looked for permanent staffing, will resume his position as our 4th-8th grade PE teacher.
Good luck to our soccer teams as playoffs get underway this weekend!
Prost!!
Abby Mansfield
