Principal’s Letter

It has been a week of holding the paradox of opposing emotions. In his weekly letter to principals, Superintendent Nicholas Ford reminded us of the letter distributed at the end of last year by the Washington State Catholic Conference and signed by the five bishops of Washington state regarding immigration. In their letter, the bishops state:

“During this time of uncertainty and fear, we stand with our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters. May all our brothers and sisters on the margins, especially migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, know that our parishes are open for prayer, comfort, and solace.”

Mr. Ford went on to say:

“It is my hope as superintendent that each of our families knows this desire for our parishes to serve as spaces open to prayer, comfort, and solace to immigrants and all those facing uncertainty extends to our schools. Our students and families should feel welcome and safe when they drop their children off at school and pick them up each day.”

Yet, in the midst of uncertainty, fear, and loss, we celebrate. At our State of the School presentations this week, we celebrated our tremendous community and the countless ways you come together, contributing and caring for one another. On Sunday, we will gather to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, beginning with our All-Community Mass at 10:30am, followed by our school open house, book fair, and bake sale benefiting the victims of the Los Angeles fires. Check out the calendar of events to find additional Catholic Schools Week information.

Interested in learning more about our new 5-day preschool program? Please join me for a Q&A on Tuesday, February 11th in the Parish Admin Building at 8:30am. RSVP here.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday – remember to have your students wear dress uniform – to show their pride for our wonderful school.
