From the Nurse
Welcome back St. John families! Please see the reminders below as fall gets rolling, and please reach out to Dora Hall, School Nurse, with any questions at any time: dhall@st-johnschool.org.
ILLNESS POLICY
Please adhere to the following school illness guidelines:
- Children must stay home if they are sick: Inform the school by submitting the attendance form. The school will send students home if they exhibit symptoms of illness.
- Respiratory Symptoms, including COVID-19: These symptoms include, but are not limited to fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and/or headache. Individuals can return to school when, for 24 hours, both are true:
- Fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications AND
- Symptoms are improving overall
- For COVID-19, individuals should take additional precautions over the next five days such as wearing masks while indoors at school. No testing is required to return to school.
- Fever: A temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 C) or higher is considered a fever. Individuals must stay home from school if they have a fever. Individuals should be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications before returning to school.
- Vomiting/Diarrhea: Individuals should stay home for 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea.
COMFORT KITS
All NEW students are required to provide a comfort kit. Please bring a comfort kit to school as soon as possible. Returning students do NOT need to bring in new comfort kits this year as the ones from last year will be used. Please reach out to Dora Hall, School Nurse, if you have any questions about comfort kits.
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
If your student has medications or may need medications at school, a medication authorization form signed by a licensed health professional is required. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medications, medications that are kept in backpacks, eye drops, ointments, etc.
