Principal’s Letter

It’s Jog-a-thon time! Thanks to your generous donations, we have raised over $75,000 towards our $100,000 goal – we’ve got this! Join us for the festivities tomorrow as your students run their way to our collective goal of 1,000 miles. This is one of our favorite events of the year; it promotes community, physical health, raises essential funds for our annual operating budget, and is a ton of fun! Thank you to our Jog-a-Thon fundraising team and all our volunteers who help make this event a success; thanks for supporting the flock.

Our teachers and students are beginning to settle into a routine. This week, the intermediate department celebrated International Dot Day. After reading Peter H. Reynolds’ children’s book, The Dot, they discussed ways they could ‘make their mark’ or ‘create a ripple’ in our community. Each student created their own special dot; these will be assembled and displayed as a reminder to students of the positive collective impact our ripples can make. I look forward to having our K-5 families here for Curriculum Night next Thursday to see this art piece first-hand and experience all of the creative and caring ways our teachers are meeting the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of our learners. We have a remarkable team of teachers, and it is an honor watching them work each day.

Mrs. Oines, second-grade teacher, is hosting Family Adoration again this year every Thursday afternoon, 3-4pm. This is a wonderful way to gather with our community in prayer – all are welcome; feel free to pop in for five minutes or stay the full hour. Matthew 18:19-20 reminds us of the power of communal prayer: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am with them.” Thank you, Mrs. Oines, for sharing this special opportunity with our students and their families. And speaking of prayer, I gathered today with school administrators from the 72 different Catholic Schools across Western Washington for our annual Principal’s Retreat. It is always moving to spend time sharing and reflecting about our collective callings to serve.

I look forward to seeing many of you cheering on our runners tomorrow! We all have something this world needs…
