Principal’s Letter
We had almost 800 people attend our State of the Parish presentations at mass last weekend. I loved seeing so many of our school families in attendance – we should pack the church like that all the time. Worshipping together is one of the many privileges we have at St. John, and it warmed my heart to see so many of you gathered together. We hope you will join us at 9am tomorrow morning as we gather for our All-School Community Mass. We have moved some of our middle school students up to the balcony to make room for parishioners and family members, and we hope to see you there.
As the days turn dark and cold, we are cognizant of those in our community who are struggling, especially in light of the ongoing government shutdown and uncertainty surrounding the release of necessary SNAP benefits. This November, we are partnering with St. Vincent dePaul to support our unhoused neighbors. In Religion, our 6th-grade students have been learning about food insecurity and the unhoused – tomorrow during our monthly school families meeting, they will share what they have learned and kick off our school-wide Hygiene Kit Drive. Look for flyers to come home with your students at the end of the day tomorrow with all the details, including collection dates and items to donate.
Calling all campers: the 25-26 auction has officially launched. Mark your calendars for March 27, 2026 – start procuring your donations – and check out the auction website for your trail map to Camp Soaring Eagle!
Save the date for our 3-5 grade Grand Day event on Tuesday, November 10. Ms. Villaneuva and the intermediate students will be kicking off the holidays with their winter performance, and ALL are welcome to join. Please note, this event is in lieu of a separate intermediate department winter concert; we are spreading these concerts out this year so that Ms. Villaneuva is able to put extra love and attention into each show.
Reminders: No school on Monday (teacher retreat) and Tuesday ( in honor of Veterans Day). On Friday, we have our optional Vaccine Clinic; the deadline to register is November 10. Have you ordered your student’s school photo? Click on the individualized link you received in an email directly from Kids Photography to purchase photos. The deadline to order photos is also Monday, November 10.
Finally, we want to welcome the newest member of the St. John Community: baby Eloise Rosalyn Thu Van! Congratulations, Ms. Rzegocki, we are so happy for you and your growing family.
We all have something this world needs, and together we can make a difference in our community!
Principal Abby Mansfield
