Principal’s Letter

Advent is a season of paradox: the month is full of activity and busyness, and yet we are called to reflect, to remember the reason for the season, and wait upon the Birth of Jesus. We are preparing – preparing to celebrate but also preparing our hearts to receive the special gifts of grace God has in store for us this Advent season. In the coming weeks, we will be creating intentional moments of preparation and reflection, and invite you to join us for these special times together as a community.

Monday morning, at 9am, join us in the church for a special mass, honoring the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Thursday afternoons, after pick up, the church will be open to our community – come light a candle, take a gift tag from the Giving Tree, get a close-up look at our beautiful nativity, and spend some time in Adoration prayer together before the Blessed Sacrament. On Monday, December 15, join us in the Church at 8:30am for our Advent prayer service.

Trimester 1 report cards are coming home with your students today. Check your child’s backpack. Take time to celebrate your student’s growth, persistence and achievements, and set academic goals for trimester 2.

We look forward to seeing our preschool families in Egan Hall tomorrow morning for our 9am Christmas performance. We will open the parking lot to vehicles at 8:30am for attendees.

Good luck to our CYO basketball teams who will be taking the court again this weekend. Thank you coaches and parent volunteers for sharing your gift of time with our athletes.

We all have something this world needs, and this Advent, The Sisters of Charity of New York remind us: “Advent is not passive waiting. It’s the season when prophets dare to say: The world can be different, and we will help to make it so – we choose hope with our voices, our presence, and our holy trouble.”

Choosing hope,

Principal Mansfield
