Principal’s Letter – Happy New Year!

Happy new year and welcome back. I reminded the teachers this week to ‘start gently,’ and I encourage you to do the same. Start gently with yourself and with your student – it takes time to get back into routine and to settle back into the rigor and expectations of school. Many of us are managing stressful situations – at work, at home, and certainly in our world. We need to be gentle with ourselves and with one another, extending grace and kindness, and doing what we do best – supporting one another. We cannot control much of what is going on in the world right now, but we can take a deep breath and start this new year gently.

This month, we will begin preparing for Catholic Schools Week with the theme “When you pray, move your feet.” This Friday, our community will pause together – taking a collective deep breath – as we gather to celebrate Mass, participate in an all-school retreat, and come together in our school families. As we learn about the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, we will reflect on the many ways we are called to move our feet, using our unique gifts to make a difference and create positive ripples in the world. We hope you will join us for our community mass beginning at 9am in the church. Please remember, this is a dress uniform day for all students in grades K-8.

As we turn our calendars to a new year, it is time to add some important save the date reminders. This year’s mandatory State of the School presentations will be offered, virtually on January 20 and, in person, January 22. Our Catholic School’s kick-off mass and open house is Sunday, January 25. Be sure to check out the Dates to Note section of NewsViews below for other important upcoming dates.

We all have something this world needs,

Principal Mansfield
