Principal’s Letter

It has been a wonderful couple of weeks celebrating our Catholic School; from the State of the School presentations to our Mass and Open House on Sunday, we loved gathering together as a community to celebrate all that makes St. John special. You can learn more about our positive impact in our 2024-25 Annual Report. Thank you for the many ways you support our school community and contribute to the mission.

Tomorrow is Purple and Gold Day, and we’re going big this year! We’ll kick off the morning with an all-school assembly, followed by games and activities during our School Family Olympics. All students will enjoy a special Spirit Lunch (thanks to the PA and kitchen team), and we’ll wrap up the day with our time-honored tradition: the 8th-grade students vs. teachers basketball and volleyball games. Break out the purple and gold, and let’s celebrate!

We invite you to join our Parent Association for a short meeting tomorrow morning at 8:30am in Egan Hall; please stick around after to help set up for our Spirit Lunch. This is a huge event, and many hands make light work! Thank you to our volunteers who have been making decorations and planning activities; we appreciate all of your behind-the-scenes efforts in making this event special for our students.

Next week is a 4-day school week. On Friday, our teachers will be participating in a full-day of professional development. We will start our morning on Zoom, with fellow Catholic school teachers throughout our region. In the afternoon, we are excited to welcome to campus Bishop Blanchet Principal, Sam Procopio, to lead our teachers in a hands-on workshop, Artificial Intelligence – Professional Productivity & Ethical Student Use.

Thank you for your attendance at the State of the School presentations last week and for completing your re-enrollment for the 2026-27 school year. Your Fair Share makes a difference, and your generous gifts to the Annual Fund supporting our school operations are greatly appreciated. Deadline to complete re-enrollment is Wednesday, February 4.

Congratulations to our Seattle Seahawks on securing a trip to Super Bowl 60! Next Thursday, 2/5, we invite our students to wear Seahawk Blue with their uniform pants/skort/skirt to celebrate this momentous occasion and help cheer them on to victory.

We all have something the world needs,

Principal Mansfield
