Principal’s Letter

Last weekend’s middle school production of a Wrinkle in Time was out of this world. Thank you to all of the students who contributed their talents on stage and behind the scenes. Thank you to the elective teachers, John Thayer, Allan Quiaoit and Nick and Aleah Valley for helping our students with set design, sound and lights, and running the event. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped with costumes, sets, music, and kept our actors fed and hydrated during long rehearsals. And a huge shout-out to our director, Bryar Golden, who caught our vision and made it a reality for our community.

From the stage to the campsite, it is time to prepare your gear! The Auction is only three weeks away, and next Tuesday, March 10, is your last opportunity to secure a Discovery Pass and join us for this celebratory fundraiser. Not only is our auction the biggest fundraiser of the year and essential for supporting our Fair Share program, but it is also one heck of a party! We look forward to seeing you there.

In my readings for Lent this week, I came across a beautiful reflection on John 4:7, from The Sisters of Charity that, in closing, I wish to share with you: “We are taught that we are made in the image and likeness of God. This is nowhere more true than in our thirst for a relationship with our Creator and one another. It was God who first thirsted for us, who longed us into being at the beginning of our great covenant story. God initiates, always, and we can only respond in kind — to receive love and long to return it. For this we were made, and in this we are our most God-like. Where God longs out of God’s fullness, we long and thirst out of our incompleteness. Our thirst for God must translate into our thirst for justice and for advocacy on behalf of the hungry and homeless.”

May we continue this Lent to not only fast from that which harms us, but may we also look for ways to support the marginalized and hurting in our community.

We all have something this world needs,

Principal Mansfield
