Principal’s Letter
In the Gospel of John Chapter 13, we hear, “Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and loved them until the end.” In this final lesson to his disciples, Jesus offers a powerful example of humility, compassion, and love, summing up the heart of the Gospel – to love and serve one another. In that upstairs room, Jesus washes the disciples’ feet, and in so doing, Jesus invites us to do the same: to humble ourselves, pick up the basin and towel, and care for others in the most ordinary and meaningful ways. The real work of loving our neighbors often means rolling up our sleeves, stepping into the messiness of life, and being willing to get a little dirty. It isn’t always easy, but Jesus showed us the way; may we have the courage to follow his example.
Tonight, we begin our series of Holy Week masses. You will find the complete list of mass offerings and locations listed below in the Parish News post. We invite you to join us in the church tomorrow, at 11am, as our 7th and 8th grade students lead us in a special Stations of the Cross prayer service, The Shadow Stations. Immediately following Stations, we will dismiss the campus in silence. We ask for your help in limiting conversations on the blacktop and at the flagpole during pick-up, and please note, the play pit will be closed during dismissal tomorrow.
If you still have Rice Bowls at home, those can be returned with your student tomorrow or at one of the Easter Masses this weekend as well as in the Parish offices at St. John and St. Benedict next week. Recall, Newsviews will not be published next week. Enjoy your Easter Holidays. If your child(ren) will not be at school tomorrow, Friday, April 3, please submit an attendance report. We will see you back on campus on April 13.
We all have something this world needs; may we continue to follow Jesus’ example, showing love and compassion to our neighbor and spreading ripples of justice to everyone we meet.
