Principal’s Letter
Wow! Over 325 of our students took on the challenge and rode, rolled, or walked to school yesterday. It warmed our hearts seeing the playground lined with scooters and bikes. Thank you Pablo, Mr. Stinebrickner, and Mrs. Skokan for bringing the Bike-To-School event to our campus.
Next week is a big week for our middle school students. Sixth-grade students will set off on a 3-day adventure to CYO Camp Hamilton, where they will engage in hands-on learning with their environmental science curriculum. They’ll also use teamwork to overcome challenges and grow in appreciation for God’s creation. Our 7th graders will be staying local during middle school trip week and will enjoy a trio of enriching day trips: a visit to the Washington State Capitol, an exploration of the Burke Museum at the University of Washington, and an inside look at the Boeing Flight Test Center in Seattle. The 8th-grade class is embarking on an amazing new trip that captures the mission and values of St. John School, providing an educational and transformative experience through the South. Students will travel to Memphis, Clarksdale, Selma, Montgomery, and New Orleans to learn firsthand the stories told through geography, music, culture, and the people who inspire us today. Students will walk in the footsteps of those who witnessed and participated in the Civil Rights movement, the Civil War, the cultural fusion of New Orleans, the founding of Catholic education in North America, Catholics serving the most vulnerable, the formation and culture of Blues and Jazz, and the enormity of WWII. These stories and more will be an incredible experience for our 8th-grade students, bringing together history and Catholic Social teachings. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and parent volunteers for helping to make these enriching experiences successful.
Congratulations to Marlo O’R. on an outstanding performance at BELLARMUN 2026 this past weekend! Hosted at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma, WA, this Model U.N. conference brought together nearly 100 middle school students from over 20 schools for a day of research, collaboration, and diplomacy, helping participants grow as thoughtful global citizens. Marlo was recognized with a well-deserved Outstanding Delegate Award. We are so proud of her dedication and hard work – great job, Marlo!
The school is making great progress in getting our student information system (PowerSchool) back online and accessible to families. This was a total rebuild of our SIS and I want to thank the administrative team, the teachers, and you for your patience as we worked to re-launch. Special thanks to Di Tran and Melanie Munoz-Solomon for the countless extra hours of work, during evenings and on the weekends, to get the system functional. Students in grades 5-8 will be receiving new student login information tomorrow and will have immediate access to Trimester 3 attendance, assignment and grade information. They will also be hand carrying home a welcome letter for you that includes parent access IDs and passwords. Please follow the steps to create your own account and link your student(s) so you can also view grade information. We will roll out welcome letters to parents in grades PreK-4 once our upper grades are integrated back into the system.
Tomorrow, we welcome our K-2 grandparents and special friends. Reminder, there is no Hot Lunch tomorrow, and it is a Dress Uniform day for ALL students.
We all have something this world needs,
Principal Mansfield
