Principal’s Letter
What a joy it has been to welcome our families back to school this week! The building is once again filled with the energy, laughter, and excitement. This is what makes St. John School such a special place. Our theme this year, We are rooted in God’s love, called to make a difference, reminds students of who they are and who they are called to be, in the way they welcome others, use their gifts, speak with kindness and courage, serve our community and care for one another. As we begin this year, I am excited to see all the ways our students will grow strong roots and put their faith and gifts into action.
Below in the Parent Action Items post, you will see a comprehensive list of ALL the upcoming wonderful opportunities to get involved in our community. Pay close attention to this section of NewsViews each week, so as not to miss out on important announcements or key calendar items. To highlight just a few of these opportunities:
- Jog-A-Thon fundraising packets will go home with students tomorrow, Friday. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and we need your help to reach our $100,000 goal.
- Thursday, 9/10, is Curriculum Night for our Kindergarten-Grade 5 families. Join us in the church at 6:30pm for a presentation from the Administrative Team, followed by time in your student’s classroom.
- Next Friday, 9/11, is our annual Blessing of the Backpacks food drive. Food donations will be dropped off on the blacktop as students enter the building in the morning. And, then at 9am, we invite all of you to join us for our first all-school community Mass of the year. Reminder, this is a Dress Uniform day for all students; you will find our updated Dress Uniform policy here.
- The Back-to-School BBQ is almost here, and we could still use your help. Check out the many volunteer opportunities; thanks for helping to make this community event a success – we can’t do it without you.
- Tomorrow, we celebrate all the hard work our students did over the summer, completing our Summer Incentives. This is a Free Dress day for students; please make sure students follow the non-uniform day dress code.
We hope to see you at our first Parent Association (PA) meeting of the year in Egan Hall, tomorrow, at 8:30am. You all are invited.
We are rooted in God’s love, called to make a difference,
Principal Mansfield
