Principal’s Letter
Thanks to your incredible generosity we have exceeded our $100,000 Jog-a-thon goal; this is amazing! All students will celebrate with Cash-Grabbin-Gecko and free dress during our Jog-a-thon celebration day on October 16. Our grade 6 students, in a come-from-behind surge of donations, are currently on track to collectively raise the most money, securing them a spot in the coveted Silly String Show-Down. There is still time to donate and our Grades 2 and 4 aren’t far behind – could one of them swoop in and take it away? Tomorrow is the last day to make your gift to the jog-a-thon.
We are grateful to Chris Sourov and the Jog-a-thon team for spearheading this important fundraiser. I love this event, as it not only raises essential funds to support the school’s operating budget, but it is a wonderful community building day…so many people came out to cheer on our classes and even ran laps hand-in-hand with their children or grandchildren. And so many of you were here volunteering: running first-aid stations, handing out fruit snacks, counting laps, and managing the course. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Thank you to everyone who took time out of your evenings to attend our Curriculum Nights. Our teachers truly value the partnership we share with you and appreciate the opportunity to connect as we begin a new school year. It has been a wonderful start, and as we settle into the rhythm of the year, we are grateful for the energy, joy, and sense of community that continue to fill our school.
In staffing news, we are excited to welcome Mrs. Heidi Masterson, parent of two St. John alumnae, to our Front Office team. Mrs. Heidi will be on campus Wednesday through Friday, while Mrs. Steph will continue to greet and assist our families on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are grateful to Mrs. Melanie Munoz Solomon for the care and warmth she has brought to the Front Office. Fortunately, she isn’t going far; Mrs. Melanie is transitioning to a full-time role in the Parish Office, so she will remain a familiar face in the St. John community. We are also pleased to welcome Mr. Carlos Davis and Ms. Delphine Prange to our Kitchen Staff. At the same time, we extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Darcy Dixon for her hard work and commitment to preparing delicious lunches for our community. And your student may have already mentioned Mr. Seth Wannemacher, our new second-grade teaching assistant. In addition to supporting our second graders, Mr. Wannemacher is also sharing his talents with our Middle School students as the teacher of our Drama elective. Please join us in welcoming our newest staff members and thanking those who continue to serve our St. John community in new ways. We are grateful for all they bring to our students, families, and school!
We are rooted in God’s love, called to make a difference,
Principal Mansfield
